The body combat is a cardiovascular exercise program that is carried out in a group and consists of movements of different martial arts such as taekwondo, karate, capoeira, muay thay (Thai boxing), tai chi, among others, through choreography with music where you can exercise your arms, shoulders, back, legs and abs, thus improving flexibility, strength, coordination and cardiovascular endurance.
Body combat is an activity that anyone can do, regardless of their age, since it allows you to adapt the exercises to all physical conditions. However, it is not recommended to be practiced by pregnant women, people with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip (degradation of joint cartilage) or those with high blood pressure.
How is a body combat class developed?
Body combat classes must be divided into three blocks, the first block serves as a dynamic warm-up and is a first approach for athletes to get to know the exercises they will perform later.
In the second block, exercises centered on speed, energy and resistance are performed and combined with rest times between each series. In this block different muscles are exercised, resorting to each one of the different martial arts that are included in this practice.
Finally, the third block focuses on various exercises that conclude with a series of final stretches.
To achieve the desired results, specialists recommend carrying out three body combat classes per week or practicing body combat as a complementary activity to another physical activity.
It is advisable to rest your muscles between 48 to 72 hours after a session to improve your physical conditioning. Similarly, you may need a daily practice not so intense of the different exercises until you master them.
Most of the testimonies ensure that the body combat is a fun and entertaining activity, which facilitates the willingness to exhaust the energy and acquire the adrenaline needed to perform so many exercises in a single hour. The music used in the classes varies from classical to more current topics, all of them with a lot of rhythm to match the exercise routines that are being carried out.
It is important to hydrate before, during and after a session of body combat, to maintain the body in optimal conditions.
